Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have foiled an attempt by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) to illegally push six men into Bangladesh through Ramdaspur border in Gomastapur Upazila of Chapainawabganj.
Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Ariful Islam Masum, commanding officer of Naogaon 16 BGB Battalion, confirmed the development on Thursday morning.
According to BGB officials, personnel from Shamsher Nagar BSF camp of India’s 12 BSF Battalion tried to push six men into Bangladesh through the area near boundary pillar No-216 on the Ramdaspur border, which is under the jurisdiction of Naogaon Battalion, at around 6:30am.
Sensing the illegal activity, a patrol team from BGB’s Ramdaspur Border Outpost (BOP) immediately intervened and confronted BSF members, successfully thwarting their attempt.
The six individuals currently remain positioned within Indian territory at the zero line of the border.
Lt Col Masum added that BGB is closely monitoring the situation to prevent any further push-in attempts, maintaining strict vigilance and regular patrolling along the border.
