In September 2025, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) successfully seized smuggled goods totaling Tk 171.60 crore across the country. The operations targeted smuggling networks at border areas and beyond.
Key items recovered included 6 kg of gold, 1.65 kg of silver, 9,248 sarees, 11,461 garments, 391,793 pieces of cosmetics, and over 1.3 million fireworks. Other items included 2,035 kg of tea, 81,780 kg of coal, 35,062 kg of cumin, 17,641 kg of sugar, and 19 trucks loaded with various goods.
BGB also recovered 2 pistols, magazines, and other firearms, alongside a large quantity of narcotics, including over 20 million Yaba tablets, heroin, Phensedyl bottles, and marijuana. In total, BGB seized over 700,000 pieces of various drugs and intoxicants.
During these operations, 198 smugglers were arrested, and 1,197 Bangladeshi nationals, 9 Indian nationals, and 805 Myanmar nationals were detained or pushed back for illegal border activities.
