Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) observed Victory Day 2025 with due honour and solemnity, organising elaborate programmes at its headquarters in Pilkhana, Dhaka, as well as across all regions, institutions, sectors and units nationwide on Tuesday.

As part of the day’s programme, the national flag was hoisted at sunrise at the BGB Headquarters in Pilkhana and at all BGB establishments across the country, according to a press release.

At dawn, the Director General of BGB, Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui, participated in the wreath-laying ceremony at the National Martyrs’ Memorial in Savar, where wreaths were placed on behalf of the Honorable President and the Honorable Chief Adviser.

BGB Director General paid homage to the valiant martyrs of the Great Liberation War by placing a wreath at the ‘Shimanto Gourab’ monument at 7:45am at Pilkhana.

On the occasion, a well-equipped BGB contingent rendered a Guard of Honour in tribute to the martyrs.

To mark the Great Victory Day, special luncheon programmes were arranged at all BGB units across the country, including Pilkhana. The central luncheon programme at Pilkhana was graced by the Director General of BGB as the chief guest.

Special prayers were also offered at the central mosque of the BGB Headquarters in Pilkhana and at mosques of all BGB units, seeking eternal peace for the departed souls of the martyred freedom fighters, good health for the valiant and war-wounded freedom fighters, as well as peace and prosperity for the nation and continued progress and unity of the force.

Marking the occasion, arrangements were made for the free screening of Liberation War-based films at the BGB cinema hall for BGB members, their families and students of BGB-run schools and colleges.
From morning till evening, BGB museum and zoo at the Pilkhana Headquarters were kept open to visitors free of charge.

Various sports events, including T20 cricket, football, kabaddi and ha-du-du tournaments, along with cultural programmes, were organised with the participation of students from BGB-run schools.

In addition, from 11:00am to 4:00pm, musical performances were presented by the BGB Orchestra and Band at the Hatirjheel Amphitheatre.

As part of the day’s other programmes, colourful illuminations were arranged at the BGB Headquarters and at various BGB installations across the country.

The gates of all units, adjacent roads and surrounding areas were decorated with the National Flag, banners and festoons.
