The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has significantly strengthened security measures along Chuadanga frontier in response to recent “push-in” incidents. Patrolling, surveillance, and intelligence activities have been intensified across approximately 87 kilometres of the border spanning four upazilas in the district.
The Chuadanga-6 BGB and Maheshpur-58 BGB battalions are currently responsible for maintaining security in these frontier areas. The heightened security follows an incident on 31 May, when the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) allegedly attempted to push 10 individuals, including women and children, into Bangladesh through Darshana Baradi border.
BGB personnel detained the group and, after verifying their identities, handed them over to the police. Several other infiltration attempts have also been thwarted in the period surrounding this event. In a more recent development at dawn on 14 June, an attempt to push another 11 people through the Darshana Joynagar-Gede border was foiled through the joint efforts of BGB members and residents.
In the wake of these events, additional precautions have been implemented at various strategic points along the frontier. Despite these incidents, the BGB has reported that the current situation at Chuadanga border remains calm and normal, with no untoward incidents occurring at present.
BGB members continue to maintain regular patrols and a state of high alert in the border areas to ensure continued stability.
