BEPZA on Monday got two modern weighbridges at the old and extension zones of Dhaka EPZ to ensure transparency, accountability and efficiency in the import and export activities of enterprises.
The weighbridges, installed at the main gates of the two zones, will enable accurate measurement and digital recording of goods transported by containers, covered vans and other vehicles entering and exiting the zones, said a press release.
BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General Mohammad Moazzem Hossain inaugurated the facilities.
The system will enhance transparency and accountability in measuring goods under bonded facilities, improve accuracy of information, ensure proper utilisation of imported raw materials and strengthen monitoring of bonding activities.
Following Dhaka EPZ, BEPZA is progressing with installation of similar weighbridges at Chattogram EPZ, Adamjee EPZ, Cumilla EPZ and Karnaphuli EPZ. Dhaka EPZ Executive Director Mohammad Abdul Jabbar, BEPZA Security Executive Director Mohseen Hasan, Assistant Commissioner of Customs and enterprise representatives attended the event.
