The Bangladesh Cricket Board has planned a new step for sports journalists. The board will introduce a scholarship program for those who work in sports media.
The board confirmed the plan in a press release. It said the goal is to improve sports journalism and raise professional standards. The board is also working on more steps. It will start a pension scheme for players and match officials. A committee will be formed to work on this plan.
The board will also bring back its annual awards. These awards will recognise the work of players and others in Bangladesh cricket. Sports journalists will also be included.
Former national star Mohammad Rafique has been named spin bowling coach.
The board has extended the tenure of the white ball captains. Litton Das will stay as T20I captain until the 2028 ICC T20 World Cup. His last term ended after the previous World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz became ODI captain last year after replacing Najmul Hossain Shanto. Bangladesh won series against West Indies and Pakistan under him. There are still questions about his captaincy. But the board has extended his term until the 2027 ICC ODI World Cup.
The board also launched two digital tools. The BCB Player Data App will give detailed stats of domestic players. The BCB Cloud Server App will help coaches, analysts and selectors. It will give them easy access to videos and data.
