Bangladeshi star Parvez Hossain Emon has been ruled out of the Pakistan Super League after sustaining a right shoulder injury while fielding on April 3, ending his first-ever franchise league campaign with Lahore Qalandars after just three matches.
National Team Physio Bayjedul Islam Khan confirmed the extent of the injury following Emon’s return from Pakistan: “Following an assessment of Parvez Hossain Emon, who returned from Pakistan with a right shoulder injury sustained on April 3 during fielding, it appears to be an injury that may require approximately three weeks for recovery.”
The physio added that Emon has already begun his road to recovery. “Emon has already begun a structured rehabilitation program under the supervision of the BCB’s medical and coaching staff. He will now undergo rehabilitation and functional skill training under the close monitoring of the BCB medical and coaching staff. We are hopeful of his recovery in time for the upcoming T20 International series against New Zealand later this month.”
Despite the early exit, Emon had made a promising impression during his brief PSL stint, scoring 71 runs across three matches at a strike rate of 161.36, including a dazzling 45 off just 19 balls against Multan Sultans.
After being sidelined, Emon took to his Facebook page to express gratitude to the Lahore Qalandars faithful with a heartfelt message:
“Dear Qalandars fans, I’m truly devastated that my PSL journey has come to an end due to injury. I was super excited for this opportunity and felt I was just getting into my rhythm but Allah knows best and he is the best of planners.
This was my first overseas franchise and I’m incredibly grateful to have experienced the Qalandars brotherhood within this team.
Thank you for your trust and support. I’m sorry I couldn’t continue the journey with you this season. I will be watching and supporting the boys all the way.
InshaAllah, I will see you again soon.
Dil Se… Qalandars”
