The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has confirmed that it found no irregularities in the selection process of the Under-19 women’s cricket team following a thorough review. The Board also noted that its five-member Inquiry Committee is currently examining additional matters, including issues raised by former national captain Jahanara Alam.
The BCB stated that the National Sports Council’s (NSC) letter dated 17 September 2025, which raised complaints regarding the Under-19 selection and other matters related to women’s cricket, was received at a time when the Board was fully occupied with the formation of the General Council and the election of the new Board of Directors. During this period, most departments were focused on essential day-to-day operational tasks, limiting their capacity to respond immediately.
Following the completion of the General Council formation, the election of the Board of Directors, and the subsequent allocation of responsibilities to newly appointed Committee Chairmen, the relevant committees reviewed all available records. Based on this review, the BCB confirmed that no irregularities occurred in the Under-19 women’s team selection.
In addition, matters referenced in a letter dated 8 September 2025 submitted by Ria Akhter Shikha to the Executive Director of the NSC are being examined by the five-member Inquiry Committee. This committee was originally formed on 8 November 2025 with Justice (retd) Tariq ul Hakim, Barrister Sarwat Siraj Shukla, and Rubaba Dowla to investigate allegations of misconduct involving members of the national women’s team. On 12 November 2025, Barrister Muhammed Mustafizur Rahman Khan and Professor Dr Naima Huq were added, expanding the committee’s mandate to cover broader issues in women’s cricket.
The BCB reiterated its commitment to transparency, fairness and accountability, stating that it will take all necessary and appropriate actions once the Inquiry Committee submits its findings and recommendations.
