Bata is eyeing expansion in Bangladesh as Bata Group Global CEO Panos Mytaros met Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to discuss investment plans, export growth, and opportunities in the footwear sector.

The meeting, held during his first visit to Bangladesh on 23 April, focused on strengthening the company’s presence and industrial contribution, the company said in a press release.

Bata Bangladesh Managing Director Faria Yasmin accompanied the global CEO.

Tarique Rahman appreciated Bata’s long-standing contribution to the economy and industry and encouraged further expansion of its export potential.

He said the government would continue to support the company’s growth and monitor its progress closely.

He outlined ongoing and future investment plans and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to strengthening local capabilities and supporting industrial growth.

The discussion also covered Bata’s community initiatives, including programmes focused on children and broader social impact efforts.

Bata Bangladesh Finance Director Elias Ahmed and Human Resources Director Malik Mehedi Kabir also attended the meeting.

The company said it remains committed to delivering accessible products, innovation, and comfort technology while contributing to economic development.
