Bata Shoe Company Bangladesh Limited has proposed a 105 per cent final cash dividend for 2025, taking its total cash payout for the year to 248 per cent, as the footwear maker reported turnover of Tk9,164 million despite a challenging economic backdrop, the company said in a press release issued in Dhaka on April 28.

The performance comes amid macroeconomic pressures, political uncertainty and global geopolitical tensions that dampened discretionary consumer spending, affecting demand in the footwear segment in which Bata operates.

The company said it continued to pursue a consumer-focused strategy throughout the year, targeting high-growth segments to offset market headwinds.

Growth was driven by stronger traction in casual, sneaker and premium product categories, reflecting evolving consumer preferences in Bangladesh’s retail market.

The product strategy was supported by an expansion of the company’s omnichannel network, allowing customers to engage with the brand across both physical stores and digital platforms.

Bata Bangladesh also prioritised operational efficiency and maintained a lean organisational structure to navigate the current market environment, according to the press release.

The company balanced structural adjustments with continued investment in product development and customer experience to strengthen its competitive position.

This approach is aimed at capturing opportunities as economic conditions stabilise, while maintaining its position in Bangladesh’s footwear industry.
