The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) has appointed veteran banker Md Quamruzzaman as its chief executive officer, bringing more than three decades of leadership experience in banking and financial services to the country’s chartered accountants’ professional body.
He assumed office on Sunday.
Before joining ICAB, Quamruzzaman served as country head and chief executive officer of National Bank of Pakistan’s Bangladesh operations.
Over a career spanning more than 35 years, he also held senior leadership positions at Premier Bank, Bank Alfalah, Trust Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, Industrial Development Leasing Company of Bangladesh Limited (IDLC) and AB Bank.
ICAB said his appointment is expected to strengthen the institute’s institutional capacity, regulatory functions and member services as the profession adapts to evolving corporate governance and financial reporting requirements.
Quamruzzaman holds a Master of Business Administration in Marketing from Royal Roads University in Canada.
He also earned Master of Commerce and Bachelor of Commerce degrees in Marketing from the University of Dhaka.
