Banglalink has launched the country’s first 5G Hajj roaming packs, allowing pilgrims to stay connected in Saudi Arabia without needing a local SIM card, the company said in a press release.
The packs, starting from Tk594, can be purchased using mobile balance in Taka, removing the need for foreign exchange and enabling users to land with their network already active.
The service is available to all Banglalink users travelling to Saudi Arabia, both prepaid and postpaid, offering a cost-effective option compared with local Saudi SIM cards.
Pilgrims can continue using their existing Banglalink number, avoiding the hassle of changing numbers and ensuring uninterrupted communication with family members back home.
The packs can be purchased through the MyBL app, allowing users to activate roaming services before departure.
“Hajj is one of the most spiritual and emotional journeys a person can undertake,” said Banglalink Chief Marketing Officer Kazi Mahboob Hassan.
“Every year, Bangladeshi pilgrims land in Saudi Arabia and face an immediate challenge of long, exhausting queues just to obtain a local SIM card,” he added.
“Our Hajj roaming packs eliminate this problem entirely, enabling immediate and seamless connectivity upon landing in Saudi Arabia and helping them stay connected to their loved ones,” he said.
Banglalink said the initiative reflects its focus on making connectivity more accessible, allowing pilgrims to remain connected while completing their religious obligations.
The operator offers digital services including the MyBL super app, entertainment platform Toffee and youth-focused digital brand RYZE.
