A Bangladeshi migrant worker died after falling from the 10th floor of an under-construction building in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Millat Hossain, 42, son of the late Abdur Rashid of Hasnabad Munshi Bari in Lamchar Union under Ramganj upazila, Lakshmipur.
According to family members, the accident occurred around 10am Bangladesh time while Millat was working at the construction site.
He fell from the 10th floor and died on the spot.
Millat had been living and working in Malaysia for nearly a decade as a construction labourer.
His family said he had migrated abroad in search of a better livelihood and to improve the financial condition of his family.
Confirming the incident, his brother, Sharif Hossain, owner of Padma Bazar Madina Pharmacy in Ramganj, said the family was devastated by the tragic news.
News of Millat’s death cast a pall of mourning over his family and the Hasnabad area, where relatives and neighbours gathered to console the bereaved family.
Millat is survived by his wife, two daughters and numerous relatives.
The family and local residents have urged the Bangladesh government and the Bangladesh High Commission in Malaysia to expedite the repatriation of his body so that he can be laid to rest in his hometown.
