A Bangladeshi national has been arrested in Hulhumale’ after allegedly stabbing a Nepalese woman on Saturday afternoon.
The 21-year-old Nepalese woman was reportedly injured at 12:45pm while working at an OCC store in Hulhumale’ Phase I.
She suffered a neck wound and is receiving treatment at Hulhumale’ Hospital. Authorities have confirmed that her injuries are not life-threatening, and she is in stable condition.
The suspect, identified as 25-year-old Jahangir Miah, a Bangladeshi citizen, was detained later in the day in Hulhumale’ Phase II. The police managed to track him down after reviewing CCTV footage, leading to his arrest.
The Maldives Police Service is continuing its investigation to uncover the full details of the attack.
This incident adds to a recent string of violent events in Male’. Two weeks ago, a young man was stabbed on Majeedhee Magu, and another attack occurred on Sosun Magu late last month.
