Bangladesh shooter Rabiul Islam arrived in Delhi on Monday to compete at the Asian Shooting Championship, as the government approved his travel despite earlier security concerns that kept the men’s T20 World Cup team away from India.
The decision created a sharp contrast. Bangladesh blocked its cricketers from travelling for the World Cup but cleared the shooting contingent without hesitation. Rabiul travelled alongside coach Sharmin Akter.
Bangladesh Shooting Federation general secretary Aleya Ferdous confirmed their arrival and said the federation stayed in constant contact with both the Indian Shooting Federation and the Asian Shooting Federation. She added that organisers assured them about security well in advance.
Ferdous stressed confidence in the travelling party. She said both the shooter and the coach carry extensive international experience and have competed abroad many times. In her view, that experience allows them to stay aware and adapt to any situation.
Rabiul brings serious pedigree to the event. He represented Bangladesh at the Paris Olympics in 2024 and has competed regularly on the international circuit. His presence gives Bangladesh credibility in a high-level Asian field.
Coach Sharmin Akter also adds weight to the delegation. She is a former top-level shooter herself and understands the pressures of elite competition. The federation clearly trusts that background.
