Bangladesh’s campaign at the ITF Asia Under-14 Development Championship in Cambodia ended at the semi-final stage, with the girls’ doubles pair unable to progress to the final.
In the semi-finals, Mastura Afrin and Jannat Howlader were beaten 1-6, 2-6 by Singapore’s Jishi Wang and Hannah Tay, bringing an end to a promising run in the tournament. The Bangladeshi duo had earlier shown strong form, advancing to the last four with a commanding 6-0, 6-1 victory over Bhutan’s Sumeru Yancheng and Ithro Idhyanma in the quarter-finals.
Despite that dominant performance, they were unable to maintain the momentum against a well-drilled Singaporean pair and bowed out in the semi-finals.
Bangladesh also faced disappointment in other events. In the boys’ singles, Al Rafi was knocked out after a 3-6, 0-6 defeat to Pakistan’s Muhammad Gill.
The girls’ singles competition likewise ended without success for Bangladesh. Mastura Afrin pushed Vietnam’s Dinh Nguyen hard in a closely contested match but eventually lost 7-5, 4-6, 5-7. Jannat Howlader was beaten 3-6, 3-6 by Singapore’s Hannah Tay.
