Bangladesh will focus on securing duty-free and quota-free access for its key exports, strengthening trade capacity, promoting fair trade practices, and facilitating investment at the 14th Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization (WTO) in Yaoundé, Cameroon, from 26 to 29 March 2026.
Commerce, Industries, Textiles and Jute Minister Khandakar Abdul Muktadir will lead a six-member delegation to the conference.
The delegation, which includes Senior Secretary Mahbubur Rahman and other senior officials from the Ministry of Commerce, will depart Dhaka on Tuesday and is scheduled to return on 1 April, the Ministry of Commerce said in a press release.
Minister Muktadir will participate in plenary sessions and side meetings, engaging with commerce ministers from other countries to explore opportunities for expanding Bangladesh’s exports, attracting investment, and deepening bilateral trade relations.
Bangladesh will also highlight its efforts to increase competitiveness in key sectors such as textiles, jute, and ready-made garments.
The conference provides a platform for Bangladesh to reinforce its priorities as an LDC while contributing to discussions on strengthening the multilateral trading system and addressing global trade challenges.
The WTO Ministerial Conference is the organization’s highest decision-making forum, where ministers and representatives from 166 member countries take key decisions on global trade policies.
Cameroon’s Trade Minister Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana will serve as chairperson for the event, overseeing discussions on trade reforms and multilateral cooperation.
