Bangladesh Ambassador to Nepal Md Shafiqur Rahman has met with Prime Minister of Nepal Balendra Shah during a joint meeting to discuss the strengthening of bilateral ties and regional cooperation.

During the interaction, the Bangladesh envoy extended warm greetings and felicitations to the Prime Minister on the assumption of his responsibilities on behalf of the Prime Minister of Bangladesh Tarique Rahman, and the people of Bangladesh.

Ambassador Rahman emphasised the excellent relationship between Bangladesh and Nepal, noting it is premised on principles of mutual respect, trust, and shared collaboration. He highlighted that these ties emanate from a commonality of culture, belief, societal factors, and civilisational links, all marked by strong people-to-people contact.

Addressing regional issues, the ambassador stressed the urgency of regional cooperation, including the revitalisation of regional processes such as SAARC and BIMSTEC for the mutual and ultimate benefit of the region.

He expressed the Bangladesh government’s keenness to work with the government of Nepal under the Prime Minister’s visionary leadership and assured full cooperation from the government of Bangladesh.

Along with Balendra Shah, the meeting was attended by  other ambassadors from various countries to Nepal.

Also present from the Nepalese side were the Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal; Political Advisor to the prime minister Asim Shah; Chief Secretary Sumanraj Aryal; and Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai, along with other government officials.
