Bangladesh is participating as a co-organiser for the second time at the Mekong-Lancang Fruits Festival 2026 in Kunming, China, starting 21 August, aiming to expand its fruit and agricultural exports to the Chinese market, said a Commerce Ministry press release on Thursday.
Several Bangladeshi companies will display fresh and dried fruits and other agricultural products at the festival, gaining direct access to Chinese buyers and international traders.
The participation follows a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the Export Promotion Bureau and China’s Yunnan Province Commerce Department.
Under the MoU, Bangladeshi firms will benefit from rent-free bonded warehouse facilities in designated areas of Yunnan, offline exhibition spaces, online commodity platform listings and fast-track customs clearance.
Bangladesh’s potential fruits, particularly mango, jackfruit and lychee, are expected to gain significant exposure through the platform, said the press release.
The festival serves as a strategic initiative to create long-term market presence for Bangladeshi agricultural products in China’s vast consumer market.
