Bangladesh Table Tennis Federation confirmed a preliminary squad after a five-day selection process in Dhaka. The federation trimmed the list from the top 32 players across U-19 and U-15 boys’ and girls’ categories to a final 16. The trials took place at Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Indoor Stadium as part of preparations for the South Asian Youth Table Tennis Championship 2026.

The selections highlighted strong performances at youth level. Md Nafiz Iqbal topped the U-19 boys, while Khoi Khoi Sai Marma led the U-19 girls. Md Shaheen Ahmed claimed the U-15 boys’ honours, and Jannat Islam Roza finished best among the U-15 girls.

All four study at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan, underlining BKSP’s grip on the development pathway. Khoi Khoi Sai Marma and Jannat Islam Roza also went unbeaten across all 12 matches in the first and second rounds. That consistency separated promise from polish.

In total, 13 of the 16 selected players come from BKSP. The Bangladesh Army contributed two players, while Rangpur District Sports Association supplied one. The balance shows depth beyond the national institute, even if BKSP still set the pace.

The remaining U-19 boys selected are Abul Hasem Hasib, Tahmidur Rahman Sakib and Md Monirul Islam. In the U-19 girls, Reshmi Tanchangya, Aishi Rahman and Nusrat Jahan Anannya completed the group. The U-15 boys include Md Mridul Rahman, Tahmidul Islam Parash and Md Rabbi Islam, while the U-15 girls list features Rafia Chowdhury, Jannatul Roza and Sabia Akter Papiya.

Federation general secretary Captain A M Maksud Ahmed Sonet explained the early move. He said, “Even though the South Asian Youth Table Tennis Championship fixtures have not been announced, we selected the team in advance to prepare properly.” He added, “Alongside BKSP training, we also plan local training camps,” a sensible step that values preparation over procrastination.
