Bangladesh ‘A’ endured a dismal start to their red-ball series in Australia, collapsing to an innings and 12-run defeat against Sheffield Shield champions South Australia inside three days in Darwin.
The tourists, already coming off a poor campaign in the Top End T20 tournament where they finished ninth out of 11 teams, once again fell well short with the bat.
In their first innings, Mahidul Islam Ankon’s side were skittled for just 114 runs in 34.5 overs, with number 11 batter Mohammad Enamul Haque top-scoring with 27 from 27 balls. South Australia responded strongly, posting 380 from 100.4 overs, powered by Jason Sangha’s 143 off 235 deliveries. That left Bangladesh trailing by 266 runs.
The visitors showed brief resistance in the second innings, reaching 106 for 3 at stumps on the second day. Shahadat Hossain Dipu, unbeaten on 42 overnight, could add only seven more before being removed for 49 by Harry Thornton. Yasir Ali Rabbi made 36, while captain Ankon (32) and Nayeem Hasan (25) shared a 48-run stand, but wickets fell in clusters.
Lower-order contributions were scarce, as Ripon Mondol and Enamul Haque both departed without scoring. Left-arm spinner Hasan Murad offered late defiance with 42, putting on 48 runs for the final wicket with Hasan Mahmud, but South Australia’s Jordan Buckingham claimed three scalps to wrap up the innings at 254 in 83.3 overs.
