Bangladesh A have departed Dhaka on Wednesday morning to take part in the Asia Cup Rising Stars Championship, which will be held in Doha, Qatar, from 12 to 25 November. The tournament features eight teams and serves as the rebranded version of the Emerging Asia Cup, now recognised as a List A competition.
Three players, Yasir Ali Rabbi, Mahidul Islam Ankon and Mrittunjoy Chowdhury, could not travel with the team due to visa complications but are expected to join the squad on Thursday. Bangladesh have been placed in Group A alongside Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Hong Kong, while Group B features Pakistan, India, the United Arab Emirates and Oman.
The competition will run from 14 to 23 November, with two matches scheduled each day until 19 November. The semi-finals will take place on 21 November and the final on 23 November.
Bangladesh’s squad for the Asia Cup Rising Stars Championship includes Jisan Alam, Habibur Rahman Sohan, Jawad Abrar, Ariful Islam, captain Akbar Ali, Yasir Ali Chowdhury, Mahidul Islam Bhuiyan, Rakibul Hasan, S M Meherob Hossain, Abu Hider Rony, Tofayel Ahmed, Swadhin Islam, Ripon Mondol, Abdul Gaffar Saklain and Mrittunjoy Chowdhury.
While Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan will field their A teams, the UAE, Oman and Hong Kong will participate with their national sides. The tournament adds another layer to a busy period for Bangladesh cricket, with the national team currently playing a series against Ireland and the NCL four-day competition ongoing at home.
