Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), has detained hotel employee Milon as a suspect in the throat-slitting murder of schoolgirl Fatema Akter Lili (17) at her home in South Banasree of Dhaka.
He was arrested early Monday from the Boro Singa area of Bagerhat Sadar police station, RAB said in a short message.
Lili was killed at around 2:30 pm on Saturday at her residence in South Banasree. Later that afternoon, her body was recovered from a tin-shed dwelling in front of a 10-storey building in the South Banasree area of Khilgaon.
The deceased, Lili, was a Class 10 student of Al Razi High School. Her father is Sajib Talukdar. Their ancestral home is in Lakhai upazila of Habiganj. Sajib Mia runs a food hotel in Banasree.
CCTV footage shows their hotel employee Milon entering the house before the killing.
After the incident, Khilgaon police station officer-in-charge Shafikul Islam said Lili lived in the house with her parents. At the time of the incident, her parents were at their village home. Although her other sister lived in the same house, she was outside at the time.
