The Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agencies (BAIRA) has announced the schedule for its biennial election to form a 27-member Board of Directors, with voting set to take place on Saturday, 14 November 2026. The election centre will be announced later, according to a notice issued under the Trade Organisations Act, 2022, the Trade Organisations Rules, 2025, and BAIRA’s Memorandum and Articles of Association.
The association said in a press release that the new board will include a president, a senior vice-president, three vice-presidents, a secretary general, three joint secretary generals, a finance secretary, a sports, recreation and cultural secretary, a public relations secretary, a members’ welfare secretary and 14 members.
The election schedule was announced on Thursday, 9 July 2026. BAIRA members must renew their membership by 14 September 2026, with annual subscriptions and other dues paid up to 31 December 2026, to remain eligible.
Applications for inclusion in the voter list must be submitted by 24 September 2026, along with the required documents mentioned in the election information. The preliminary voter list will be published from 25 to 27 September and displayed on the notice board for at least three days.
Objections to the preliminary voter list can be submitted to the Election Appeal Board between 28 and 30 September. The appeal board will hear and dispose of the objections on 1 and 2 October.
The Election Board will publish the final voter list from 2 to 8 October. Candidates can collect and submit nomination papers between 9 and 15 October, from 10:00am to 5:00pm daily, along with documents required under Rules 23(3) and 23(11) of the Trade Organisations Rules, 2025.
The scrutiny of nomination papers and publication of the preliminary candidate list will take place from 15 to 17 October until 5:00pm. Candidates can submit objections against rejected nominations to the Election Appeal Board between 18 and 20 October.
The appeal board will hear and settle objections regarding rejected nominations on 21 October. The final list of valid candidates will be published from 22 to 24 October, while candidates will be allowed to withdraw their candidature on 24 October.
Voting will be held on 14 November from 10:00am to 4:00pm without interruption. The election results will be announced after vote counting is completed.
Members can submit objections regarding the election process to the Election Appeal Board by 4:00pm on 15 November. Hearings on such objections will take place on 16 and 17 November.
The Election Board will announce the final results on 18 November. Objections regarding the election results can be submitted to the Election Appeal Board between 19 and 21 November after payment of a prescribed fee of Tk10,000.
The appeal board will hear and dispose of objections against the election results from 22 to 24 November. If any changes are required, the Election Board will announce revised final results on 25 November.
The Election Board has retained the authority to change, amend, modify or revise the election schedule.
The board has also provided a copy of the Election Code of Conduct along with the notice. Members have been requested to contact the BAIRA office during working hours for election-related matters, while all future information, instructions and notices will be displayed on the election notice board.
