Actor Azmeri Haque Badhan has shared an emotional post reflecting on the memories of the July 2024 student-led mass uprising, recalling the fear, uncertainty, courage and unity that defined the movement.
Alongside the post, she shared a photograph taken at Shaheed Minar on 3 August 2024, where she stood in solidarity with the protesters.
In a post on her verified Facebook page, Badhan said the photograph carries the weight of a moment that changed lives forever.
According to the actor, those who witnessed the events from afar could never fully understand what it was like to stand on the streets during those turbulent days.
“This photo carries the weight of a moment that changed us forever,” she wrote.
Reflecting on the atmosphere of the movement, Badhan said the fear was real, the uncertainty was real, but so were the courage and unity displayed by the people.
“Those who watched those days from behind windows, television screens or the comfort of their sofas could never truly understand what it meant to stand in the streets. The fear was real. The uncertainty was real. But so was the courage. And above all, the unity was real.”
The actor paid special tribute to the students who took part in the movement, saying their determination inspired an entire nation.
“I will always salute the students. They awakened a nation, brought strangers together and reminded us that hope can be stronger than fear.”
Recalling the day the photograph was taken, Badhan said she had stood at Shaheed Minar on 3 August 2024 to express solidarity with the people of Bangladesh and the students leading the movement.
Looking back at the image today, she said she sees far more than a frozen moment in time.
“When I look at this photo today, I don’t just see a still moment in time. I hear the voices, feel the pulse of the streets, and remember the belief that together we could change the course of history.”
Badhan’s post has since drawn widespread reactions on social media, with many followers revisiting memories of the July movement and praising her tribute to the courage, unity and sacrifices of the students.
