Aviation Security (AVSEC) personnel at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport have recovered €93,090 (ninety-three thousand ninety euros) concealed inside the luggage of an outbound passenger.
The money was detected during a routine security check at Row D around 10:20am on Sunday.
The AVSEC unit—comprised of members of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), Bangladesh Air Force, Bangladesh Police and the Ansar force—maintains security and provides passenger support across the airport.
Officials said a Bangladesh Biman passenger travelling on flight BG-355 to Rome attempted to carry the cash without declaration. An AVSEC screener identified the concealed euros during the X-ray scan.
Airport Customs was informed immediately. A customs team arrived at the spot and took the legal process forward.
CAAB officials said the seizure resulted from the alertness, responsibility and precise screening by AVSEC staff.
They added that the success further strengthens the airport’s overall security system and demonstrates its zero-tolerance stance against illegal activities.
