Marvel Studios will rerelease ‘Avengers: Endgame’ in cinemas on September 25, 2026 as part of the build-up to ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, which arrives on December 18, 2026.

Joe and Anthony Russo, who directed Endgame, are returning to direct Doomsday. The new film also marks Robert Downey Jr.’s return to Marvel, although this time he will appear as Doctor Doom rather than Iron Man. Characters from films including Thunderbolts, Fantastic Four: First Steps and X-Men are expected to feature.

First released in 2019, Endgame became one of the most successful films in history. It remains the second highest grossing film of all time in the United States and worldwide, with only Avatar ranking higher.

Marvel hopes the rerelease will boost cinema attendance at a time when some studios are reducing theatrical output. At CinemaCon in 2024, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige reaffirmed the company’s commitment to releasing films in cinemas.

Disney has also updated its wider release calendar. ‘Super Troopers 3’ will open on August 7 2026, a rerelease of ‘Star Wars: A New Hope’ has shifted to February 19, 2027 and the untitled ‘Simpsons’ film will now debut on September 3, 2027.
