Paramount has brought forward the release of Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender, with the animated film now set to premiere globally on Paramount+ on 25 July, instead of its originally planned 9 October theatrical release.
The studio announced the new date alongside the film’s first full trailer and first-look images. Paramount had already shifted the project to a streaming release in December 2025, and the complete film later leaked online in April, a development widely believed to have accelerated its launch. The film will also feature at San Diego Comic-Con later this month.
The story follows Aang, voiced by Eric Nam, as the world’s last Airbender searching for an ancient power that could save his people from extinction. With his friends, including Katara (Jessica Matten), Sokka (Román Zaragoza), Zuko (Steven Yeun) and Toph (Dionne Quan), he embarks on a global quest while confronting Tagah, voiced by Dave Bautista.
Based on the acclaimed series by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, the film is directed by Lauren Montgomery, with Steve Ahn and William Mata serving as co-directors.
The project marks the first release from Avatar Studios, launched in 2021 under Nickelodeon Animation Studio. The studio is also developing Avatar: Seven Havens, due in 2027. Originally aired between 2005 and 2008, Avatar: The Last Airbender remains one of the most acclaimed animated series ever made.
