An auto-rickshaw driver was killed after being hit by a private car in Dhaka’s Khilgaon area on Monday night.
The deceased, Shahin, was son of Md Alauddin of Satak village in Habiganj’s Lakhai upazila. He had been residing in Meradia Porabari, Khilgaon.
The incident occurred around 10:45pm Monday on the road opposite Safia Car Centre in Meradia Bazar.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Anoy Chandra Pal of Khilgaon Police Station said the car rammed into the auto-rickshaw while Shahin was driving, leaving him seriously injured.
He was rescued and taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead around 1am, SI Anoy added.
Police detained the car’s driver and seized the vehicle immediately after the accident.
