Australia have named a full-strength 13-man squad for next month’s two-Test series against Bangladesh, with captain Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon returning after injury layoffs.
The experienced trio are back for Bangladesh’s first Test tour of Australia since 2003, having played just three Tests between them during Australia’s injury-hit home summer.
Lyon returns to the Test squad after recovering from the serious hamstring injury that ruled him out following the 2025 Ashes Test at Adelaide Oval. The 38-year-old, Australia’s only specialist spinner in the squad, has not played since suffering the injury against England in December 2025.
The squad also features all-rounders Cameron Green and Beau Webster, pace bowler Scott Boland as the reserve seamer, and wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis as the backup middle-order option.
Michael Neser has missed out on the 13-player squad despite impressing during the Ashes, leaving selectors with a difficult decision ahead of the opening Test.
Selection chief George Bailey said Cummins, Hazlewood and Lyon had worked hard to complete their recoveries.“They have worked extremely hard, individually and with the sports science teams, over the past few months to return from their respective injuries,” Bailey said.
“While this is a 13-player squad, we have players prepared and available should any adjustments be required in the lead up to these matches.”
The first Test will be played at Marrara Stadium in Darwin from August 13-17, while the second Test is scheduled for August 22-26 at Great Barrier Reef Arena in Mackay.
