At least 35 people were killed and about 30 others injured after two buses collided on a highway linking the Syrian capital, Damascus, with the eastern province of Deir el-Zour on Saturday, according to Syrian state media.
The accident involved a civilian passenger bus and a bus operated by the Interior Ministry on the desert highway, the state-run SANA news agency reported, citing a Health Ministry official, reports UNB from AP.
Rescue teams were deployed to the crash site immediately, with Syrian military helicopters assisting in the emergency response and evacuation efforts.
The cause of the collision has not yet been established. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the deadly crash.
