An arson attack was allegedly carried out at the Magura residence of Shakib Al Hasan, former captain of the Bangladesh national cricket team and former Member of Parliament for the Magura-1 constituency. The incident occurred on Wednesday night.
According to police sources, three to four individuals arrived on a motorcycle and set fire to the main iron gate on the south side of the property before fleeing the scene.
Magura Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Al Mamun told the TIMES of Bangladesh, “A few people arrived on a motorcycle, set fire to the gate of the house, and left. However, the fire was extinguished within a short time.”
When asked about reports regarding a bomb being thrown, the OC clarified that such claims were not true. He further confirmed that no injuries were reported as a result of the fire.
An investigation into the incident is currently ongoing, and police are working to identify the individuals responsible for the act.
