The Bangladesh Army issued a statement on Thursday clarifying that it has not been tasked with overseeing the upcoming Central Student Union elections at universities, despite recent media reports and social media posts suggesting its involvement.
According to the statement, the government has not given any directive for the Bangladesh Army to participate in the elections, and it will not be involved in any such capacity in the future.
The statement further emphasised that the elections will proceed smoothly and peacefully with the support of law enforcement agencies and under the overall supervision of university administrations.
The military also extended its best wishes for a festive and orderly election process, the statement added.
