Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman returned home on Friday night after completing an official visit to Malaysia, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a press release. He had left for Malaysia on an official visit on 22 September.
In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that army chiefs from various countries of the Indo-Pacific region participated in the conference held from 23–26 September. They discussed strengthening friendship and cooperation, exchanging views on addressing common challenges, and taking coordinated measures in regional crises.
At the conference, Waker-Uz-Zaman emphasised partnership and cooperation instead of competition in tackling multidimensional challenges in the Indo-Pacific region.
He also reaffirmed the Bangladesh Army’s commitment to regional peace and stability through humanitarian approaches, professionalism, and constructive engagement.
During the Malaysia visit, the army chief held separate courtesy meetings with Commanding General of the United States Army Pacific Command General Ronald Patrick Clark and Malaysian Army Chief General Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Muhammad Hafizuddeain Jantan.
The discussions encompassed a broad range of topics, including modernisation and capacity building of the Bangladesh Army, professional development and training, technology transfer in defence production, Rohingya repatriation, regional and global security cooperation, and joint training.
