Arla Foods Bangladesh has introduced DANO Lacto Reduced Filled Milk Powder, a lactose-reduced dairy product aimed at consumers who face difficulty digesting milk, the company said in a press release. The product was launched on 29 April at the Arla Foods Bangladesh Limited head office in Dhaka, with Denmark Ambassador to Bangladesh Christian Brix Møller and European Union Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh Chairperson Nuria Lopez attending the event.
The product is positioned as the first lactose-reduced filled milk powder in Bangladesh, marking a new segment in the local dairy market. It is designed to improve digestibility while maintaining essential nutrients, targeting consumers who avoid milk due to lactose intolerance.
Milk and dairy products are a key source of nutrition, but lactose intolerance leads many consumers to reduce or avoid consumption, limiting their nutritional intake. DANO Lacto Reduced addresses this by reducing lactose content from around 36 per cent to about 3 per cent through the addition of lactase enzymes, supporting easier digestion.
Arla Foods Bangladesh Managing Director Laurent Ponty said the product reflects the company’s focus on addressing consumer needs.
“At Arla, innovation starts with societal needs. DANO Lacto Reduced addresses digestive challenges while retaining essential nutrition. It reflects our commitment to inclusive and accessible dairy nutrition in Bangladesh,” he said.
Denmark Ambassador to Bangladesh Christian Brix Møller said the initiative highlights the broader partnership between the two countries.
“Denmark and Bangladesh share a strong and long-standing partnership built on trade, development, and shared values. Arla Foods represent the Danish commitment to quality, responsibility, and innovation in action. Initiatives such as this product launch demonstrate how Danish expertise contributes positively to nutrition and sustainable development in Bangladesh,” he said.
The product has been developed for broad household consumption, including children above five years, adults and older people who experience discomfort after consuming regular milk. It is intended to enable consumers to resume milk consumption while maintaining balanced nutrition.
Arla Foods Bangladesh said the launch aligns with its strategy to deliver accessible and consumer-focused dairy products tailored to local dietary needs rather than standardised global offerings.
Arla Foods Bangladesh operates as a subsidiary of Arla Foods, a global dairy cooperative owned by about 8,000 dairy farmers across Europe. The company markets dairy products under brands including DANO, focusing on quality, innovation and long-term value for consumers and communities.
