Prime Minister Tarique Rahman attended office on Saturday despite the weekly public holiday and urged officials to accelerate implementation of the government’s election manifesto.
The move, following a similar appearance last week, underscores his effort to sustain momentum in delivering key policy commitments.
Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon said the prime minister reached the Prime Minister’s Office in Tejgaon at 10:15am after leaving his Gulshan residence in the morning.
He held a meeting with officials and staff and sought their cooperation in executing the manifesto pledges, Rumon said.
Prime Minister’s advisers Mirza Abbas, Ismail Zabiullah, Humayun Kabir, Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, Brig Gen (retd) ATM Shamsul Islam and Zahedur Rahman attended the meeting, along with Principal Secretary ABM Abdus Sattar.
Rumon said the prime minister is scheduled to attend an iftar hosted by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Center later in the day.
Tarique Rahman took office on 17 February and has attended the PMO every Saturday since, despite it being a government holiday.
Last Saturday marked his first holiday appearance at the Tejgaon office.
