The government has carried out major reshuffle in the judiciary with the transfer of 10 judges to new posts, according to a notification.
Dhaka Speedy Trial Tribunal-1 Judge Md Rafiqul Islam has been appointed as the Judge of the Dhaka District and Sessions Judge Court while Senior District and Sessions Judge Md Sabbir Foyez as Judge of the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Court.
The notification, signed by AFM Golzar Rahman, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs, was issued in this regard on Monday.
These appointments were made following consultations with the Supreme Court, it stated.
Besides, Mohammad Halim Ullah Chowdhury, Judge of Dhaka Speedy Trial Tribunal-4, has been appointed as judge of Sylhet District and Sessions Court; Syed Azad Subhani, director of the National Legal Aid Services Organisation, Dhaka, transferred to the position of Solicitor in the Law and Justice Division, Dhaka; Md Bazlur Rahman, Legal Adviser to the Bangladesh Public Service Commission Secretariat, appointed as Judge of Habiganj District and Sessions Court; Sheikh Ashfaqur Rahman, Judge of Sylhet District and Sessions Court, appointed Director of the National Legal Aid Services Organization, Dhaka.
In addition, Md Khadem Ul Kayes, judge of Moulvibazar District and Sessions Court, has been appointed as Joint Secretary of the Law and Justice Division, Dhaka; Md Hemayet Uddin, judge of Sunamganj District and Sessions Court, as Judge of Chattogram District and Sessions Court; AHM Mahmudur Rahman, judge of Bhola District and Sessions Court, as Judge of Rajshahi District and Sessions Court; Al Asad Md Asifuzzaman, judge of Rajshahi Metropolitan Sessions Court, as director (Training) at the Judicial Administration Training Institute, Dhaka.
The notification stated that these judicial transfers and appointments were made in consultation with the Bangladesh Supreme Court, and judges will serve in their new roles until further orders.
