Another Bangladeshi has died while performing Hajj in Saudi Arabia, raising the death toll of Bangladeshi pilgrims this year to seven.
The deceased was identified as Shamsul Alam, 63. He died at 8pm local time on 28 April.
Alam travelled to Saudi Arabia under the government Hajj programme. He was a resident of Bhogibalapara under Kotwali Police Station in Rangpur. His father’s name is Azizul Islam and mother’s name Shamsun Nahar.
According to the Bangladesh Hajj Office in Madina, Shamsul reported to the medical centre on 28 April with illness.
After initial treatment, he was referred to Malik Fahad Hospital, where he died while receiving treatment. He was buried at Jannat al‑Baqi cemetery in Madina after Fajr prayers on Wednesday.
