AKIJ Resource has entered Bangladesh’s healthcare sector with the launch of AKIJ Mediplex, inaugurating its first diagnostic centre in Mirpur 10 in Dhaka on Wednesday.
The facility, launched by AKIJ Resource Chairman Faria Hossain, marks the conglomerate’s expansion beyond its existing presence in construction, consumer goods, technology and services. The centre will provide diagnostic and laboratory services using AI-based equipment and modern healthcare technologies.
According to the company, the diagnostic centre is equipped with AI-powered machinery and will offer a full range of diagnostic and laboratory tests under the supervision of experienced physicians. The facility also includes home sample collection services and automated vital-check systems aimed at improving patient convenience.
Addressing the inauguration, Faria Hossain said in a press statement that healthcare is directly linked to people’s quality of life and that ensuring quality healthcare is as important as supporting Bangladesh’s economic progress.
She said the decision to invest in the healthcare sector was driven by a commitment to long-term development and improving access to modern medical services.
“Our goal is not merely business expansion, but to build a healthcare network capable of delivering reliable and modern medical services to people across different regions of the country,” she said.
Faria Hossain added that AKIJ Resource has consistently prioritised investments in sectors that contribute to improving people’s lives and expressed hope that the healthcare initiative would support the development of the country’s medical infrastructure while creating employment opportunities.
Chief Business Officer of AKIJ Mediplex Limited Abu Zafor Iqbal Ahamed said demand for modern healthcare services in Bangladesh is growing rapidly, yet many people still face long waits or extensive travel to access quality diagnostic services and specialist care.
He said the company aims to create a service environment where patients can obtain fast and reliable diagnostic services through a combination of technology, professional expertise and human-centred care.
AKIJ Mediplex will offer specialist doctors’ chambers, state-of-the-art laboratories equipped with German technology, digital reporting systems, online appointment facilities, home sample collection services and laboratory facilities designed to international standards.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by AKIJ Resource Chief Business Development Officer Towfique Hasan, Deputy Chief Operating Officer Sohanur Rahman Sohan, Cluster CFO Ashfaque Chowdhury and other senior officials of AKIJ Resource.
