The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has cautioned public against falling victim to scam artists who are misappropriating the bank’s name and branding to promote fraudulent loan offers in exchange for fees.
The organisation clarified that it does not provide loans, funds, or financial aid directly to private individuals.
ADB emphasised that it never requests personal financial details or solicits payments through mobile banking or other platforms to facilitate assistance.
Reports indicate that fraudsters are utilising counterfeit websites, Facebook pages, and digital IDs to impersonate the institution and its staff. These deceptive materials are designed to mislead citizens and extract illicit payments, with the bank confirming in a press release that it is not involved in such activities.
The public is strongly urged to remain vigilant and refrain from engaging with any suspicious loan solicitations. Any individual or group claiming to offer ADB financial assistance to the public should be reported to the relevant authorities immediately.
As a long-term development partner of Bangladesh, ADB collaborates with the government and private sector to support projects through transparent business processes.
For official information regarding scams that misuse the bank’s name, staff identities, or office addresses, the public is advised to visit the bank’s integrity advisory page at https://www.adb.org/who-we-are/integrity/advisories.
Established in 1966, ADB is owned by 69 members, 50 of whom are from the region. It operates as a leading multilateral development bank dedicated to fostering sustainable, inclusive, and resilient growth across Asia and the Pacific by utilizing innovative financial tools and strategic partnerships.
