The Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase (ACCGP), chaired by Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed, on Tuesday approved several major proposals, including the import of 1.80 lakh tonnes of fertilizer and the expansion of a key highway.
The committee recommended approval for five proposals from the Ministry of Agriculture and the Road Transport and Highways Division.
For fertilizer imports, the committee greenlit the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation’s procurement of DAP and TSP fertilizers. Banyan International Trading Limited from China will supply 40,000 tonnes of DAP fertilizer at a cost of Tk 378.83 crore, while Morocco’s OCP Nutricrops will provide 30,000 tonnes of TSP fertilizer at Tk 215.28 crore per lot.
These imports are part of state-level agreements with China and Morocco to ensure a steady fertilizer supply for Bangladesh’s farmers.
In addition, the committee reviewed a proposal to upgrade the Ashuganj River Port-Sarail-Dharkhar-Akhaura Land Port Highway to a 4-lane National Highway. The committee recommended approval of Variation Order-1 for the Ashuganj Circle to Sarail Circle segment, which involves an additional cost of Tk 163.83 crore, raising the total contract price to Tk 717.27 crore.
The committee also recommended approval for procuring rice on a government-to-government basis under the Public Procurement Act.
