Abul Khair Mohammad Hafizullah Khan, Joint Secretary of the Local Government Division under the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development, & Co-operatives, has been appointed as the new administrator of the Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS).
Khan officially assumed his duties at the BASIS office on Wednesday afternoon, with several BASIS members and officials from the Secretariat present during the occasion. Following the formal handover, Khan participated in a brief exchange meeting with BASIS members and Secretariat officials, where he requested their full cooperation to fulfill his duties effectively.
The appointment was confirmed through an office order issued on Monday, September 8, signed by Muhammad Rehan Uddin, Director General (Current Charge) of the Trade Organization wing under the Ministry of Commerce, according to a BASIS press release.
As per Section 17 of the Trade Organization Act, 2022, and with government approval, Khan has been tasked with overseeing the proper functioning of BASIS. His primary responsibility will be to update the voter list and conduct a fair and transparent election within 120 days. Upon completion of these tasks, he will hand over the responsibilities to the newly elected Executive Committee and notify the Ministry accordingly.
