Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) has approved the appointment of Abhijit Kumar Saha, a chartered accountant, and Quamrun Naher Ahmed as independent directors of Global Insurance PLC, a listed non-life insurer, according to an official letter issued on Thursday.
The approval was granted by the commission’s Issuer Company Affairs Division following two applications submitted by the company on March 5.
The appointments were made in line with condition no. 1(2)(c) of the Corporate Governance Code, 2018, and its subsequent amendments.
The approval remains subject to formal endorsement by the company’s board of directors and shareholders at the annual general meeting (AGM).
BSEC Assistant Director Rezaun Nur Mehedi signed the letter.
Copies of the directive were sent to the Chief Regulatory Officers of Dhaka Stock Exchange and Chittagong Stock Exchange.
Global Insurance is headquartered at Al-Razi Complex in Purana Paltan in Dhaka.
