Actor Aamir Khan has come under fresh controversy after members of Bajrang Dal staged a protest against his recent marriage to Gauri Spratt in Forbesganj, Bihar. Demonstrators burnt the Bollywood star’s effigy and accused him of practising what they described as “love jihad”.
During the protest, slogans including “Aamir Khan murdabad” and “Aamir Khan jihadi Bharat chodo” were raised. In a statement, Bajrang Dal leader Manoj Soni alleged that Aamir Khan had repeatedly married Hindu women and claimed the actor was insulting Hindu society, repots News 18.
Soni further alleged that Aamir Khan was working “to weaken the Hindus as part of a massive conspiracy” and warned that the organisation would “teach him a lesson” if he did not stop such actions.
In a video quoted by Siasat, Soni questioned why the actor had married Hindu women instead of Muslim women. He also criticised the names allegedly given to the actor’s children and urged the courts and the government to take action against Aamir Khan, accusing him of attempting to disturb communal harmony.
Aamir Khan first married Reena Dutta in 1986. The couple separated in 2002. He later married filmmaker Kiran Rao in 2005 before they parted ways in 2021. The actor recently married Gauri Spratt at his residence in Mumbai.
According to reports, Gauri Spratt has a Tamil mother and an Irish father, while her grandfather was a freedom fighter. She trained as a hairdresser and holds an FDA in Fashion, Styling and Photography from the University of the Arts London.
She is also the mother of a six-year-old son. Details about her first husband have not been made public. Professionally, she is currently associated with Aamir Khan Films, the actor’s production house.
