The National Citizen Party (NCP) has applied again to the Election Commission for a symbol. This time, the party has requested allocation of one of three symbols: ‘Shapla’ (water lily), ‘shada shapla’ (white water lily), and ‘shapla koli’ (water lily bud).
A delegation from the party, led by its Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwary, met with Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin at the Election Building in Agargaon on Sunday. Patwary confirmed the matter after the meeting.
The chief coordinator of the NCP said that the Election Commission (EC) recently included some new symbols, among which was the ‘shapla koli’. “Today, we have placed ‘shapla’ first in our preference list, ‘shada shapla’ second, and ‘shapla koli’ in the third position,” he said.
He mentioned that if another party applies for the same symbol, a situation of confusion or similarity regarding the “shapla koli” could arise. That is why they have added it to the application list. However, their primary preference remains “shapla”.
In response to a question about whether they would take the “shapla koli” symbol, Patwary said, “The NCP will take the ‘shapla koli’.”
