A man was killed in a road accident in the Jatrabari area of the capital early Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Sadek Khan, 58, son of Rowshan Ali Khan of Diyapara village in Harirampur upazila of Manikganj. He had been residing in the Uttar Jatrabari area of Dhaka.
According to police, the accident took place around 3am on the Dhaka–Chattogram Highway near The One Restaurant on the Chattogram-bound lane.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Md Nazrul Islam of Jatrabari Police Station said that upon receiving information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the bloodstained body. The body was later sent to Dhaka Medical College morgue for postmortem examination.
“Initial investigation suggests that he was hit by a vehicle and died on the spot,” said SI Nazrul. “With assistance from the CID forensic team, the victim’s identity was confirmed through fingerprint analysis.”
Police are investigating the incident further.
