Days after the passing of Oscar-winning actress Diane Keaton at the age of 79, her family has confirmed that she died from pneumonia.
In a statement shared with People, the family expressed gratitude for the outpouring of love and condolences, “The Keaton family are very grateful for the extraordinary messages of love and support they have received these past few days on behalf of their beloved Diane, who passed away from pneumonia on October 11.”
News of Keaton’s death was first reported by People, though initial details were limited, with the family only confirming that she passed away in California.
The family also invited those wishing to honour Keaton’s memory to contribute to causes close to her heart, “She loved her animals and was steadfast in her support of the unhoused community, so any donations to a local food bank or animal shelter in her memory would be a wonderful tribute.”
Keaton is survived by her two children.
