A gang of robbers attacked a gold trader’s house in Bagmara upazila of Rajshahi early Tuesday morning, injuring the trader and his wife with sharp weapons and looting valuables.
The incident took place around 4:30am in Damanash village under Gobindapara Union. The victims are Khokon Chandra (40) and his wife Deepti Rani (32). Khokon runs a jewelry shop at Damanash Bazaar.
According to the family members, the robbers entered through the roof, locked other family members in separate rooms, and demanded keys to valuables. When denied, they assaulted the couple and fled with gold, cash, and a motorcycle.
Officer-in-Charge of Bagmara Police Station, Touhidul Islam, said the robbers entered the house with the intent to loot and attacked the couple. However, no evidence of stolen gold or money was found inside, except for the missing motorcycle.
“The couple is hospitalized at Rajshahi Medical College. No case has been filed yet; investigation is ongoing”.
