Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin has called upon the media to extend its cooperation in ensuring a transparent, fair, and credible national election today.

He said, “We want to hold a transparent and clean election. For that, we need the cooperation of the media,” while addressing a dialogue with journalists from electronic media on Monday morning at the Election Commission (EC) Secretariat in Dhaka.

Presiding over the discussion, he said, “We want to move forward with transparency. Our goal is an election that is free, fair, and acceptable to all. We want the world to witness it. We want this election to be as clean as a mirror.”

Emphasising the vital role of the media, he noted, “You are our partners. You can play a vital role in countering misinformation and disinformation. We value your advice and cooperation in our efforts to hold a participatory, peaceful and credible election.”

Election Commissioners and senior EC officials were also present at the event.

As part of preparations for the upcoming 13th National Parliament Election, the Election Commission has launched a series of dialogues with major stakeholders to foster confidence and inclusivity.

According to EC Secretariat Director (Public Relations) and Information Officer Md. Ruhul Amin Mollik, the commission will hold another session with print media representatives today from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm.

On Tuesday, the EC will engage with election experts from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm, followed by an interactive meeting with women leaders from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm at the same venue.
