Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane has written his name into the history books, surpassing Cristiano Ronaldo and Erling Haaland to become the fastest player to score 100 goals for a single club in Europe’s top five leagues.
The England captain reached the milestone on 26 september with a brace in Bayern’s 4–0 win over Werder Bremen at the Allianz Arena. Playing just his 104th match for the German champions, Kane bettered the previous record of 105 games, jointly held by Ronaldo (for Real Madrid in 2011) and Haaland (for Manchester City last year).
Jonathan Tah opened the scoring in the 22nd minute with a clever flick after a cross from Michael Olise via Luis Díaz. Just before half-time, Kane was fouled in the box and calmly converted the penalty to make it 2–0.
After the break, Kane added his second – his 100th Bayern goal – by side-footing home a Díaz pass inside the area. Konrad Laimer rounded off the scoreline in the 87th minute.
The result maintained Bayern’s flawless start to the Bundesliga season, with five wins from five matches. They top the table with 15 points, while Bremen sit 14th with just four points from their opening fixtures.
Speaking afterwards, Kane admitted the achievement felt surreal:
“Even for me, it feels unbelievable. Scoring 100 goals for such a great club is a huge honour, and to do it so quickly makes me really proud.”
The 31-year-old is in breathtaking form, with 15 goals in eight matches across all competitions this season. In the Bundesliga alone, he has already struck 10 times in five outings, averaging two goals per game.
Bayern coach Vincent Kompany was quick to praise Kane’s overall impact:
“I always remind people of the role he plays defensively and how much he helps the team by tracking back. Yes, he broke the record, but he did it while giving so much more to the team.”
Kane’s prolific start has coincided with speculation linking him to a possible move back to the Premier League or even Barcelona next summer. But the striker was clear about his commitment to Bayern.
“I’m really happy here. I’ve got two years left on my contract and I’m loving every minute. My family are settled, my kids are in school. I enjoy the fans, the team, and the manager – this is the best place for me to win titles.
“We haven’t spoken yet about extending, but when the time comes, I’m sure we’ll have an open conversation. For now, I’m focused on helping the club move in the right direction.”
